We had the rare opportunity to photograph a group of Serbu short shotguns. This was our first opportunity to photograph both models together. Here are the two versions of the Serbu Super Shorty side by side.
The two styles are made from a Mossberg and from a Remington. These short shotguns are classified as an Any Other Weapon (AOW) by the ATF which makes them federally regulated and taxed. The AOW tax is $5. These shotguns are the shortest 12 gauge shotguns in production. Both of the Serbu Super Shorty models hold two 2-3/4 inch or 3 inch shells in the magazine, plus one in the chamber.

This 12 gauge semi-auto and pump action combat shotgun was designed in the 1970s and was produced in the 1980s. This was cutting edge technology at the time. The concept was to run the SPAS-12 as a semi-auto, then switch to pump to clear any malfunctions. The pump action system is also the best way to shoot tear gas and less lethal ammunition

The M6 scout is the civilian version of the M6 Aircrew Survival Weapon, issued to U.S. Air Force aircrew from the late 1950s until the early 1970s in the survival kits of their airplanes. The major differences are the addition of a longer (legal) length barrel and an addition of a trigger guard on the civilian version. There is no wooden furniture on the M6 scout. The Springfield M6 is an over-under design, with a .22 Hornet rifle barrel above a .410 shotgun barrel.
